This is the first post on Abu Muqawama, a blog intended to be a resource and clearinghouse for information relating to contemporary insurgencies. As one might guess from the name, Abu Muqawama has special interest in the Middle East and can be expected to pay close attention to events in Iraq, Lebanon, and the Palestinian Territories. This is not an "opinion" blog per se but rather a way to highlight articles, books, and links that may be of interest to students, academics, insurgents, counterinsurgents, and the general public.
