In addition to yesterday's excellent op-ed, the New York Times has some views of Afghans on the upcoming elections. Oh, and a helpful (?) guide to reading the Afghan candidates by what they wear.

Good report from UK's
Good report from UK's Channel 4 News, re. Panthers Claw. Shows the difficulty in engaging enemy and stress/ infighting between UK (Black Watch and Mercians) and ANA forces. One ANA soldier falls asleep on watch and gets a 'bollocking' as we Brits would say. No confirmed Taliban kills in whole operation, only a dead girl found. Seems a demoralising thankless task.

Harrison's op-ed is terribly
Harrison's op-ed is terribly incorrect. Pashtuns make up roughly 60% of all ministers and governors, and I doubt the notion of Tajik dominance of the ANA, though I have no real numbers to go from. In fact, it's not uncommon to hear the argument the other way - that Pashtuns are 40-45% of the population but hold roughly 60% of the Minister and Governor positions.
