Abu Muqawama has to blog about Kabuli fashion in order to beat our new competitor, Charlie, to the punch

Nice outfit, Madam Secretary. Putting Karl and Stan to shame. Look how happy she is, too. That's what style is all about: it should be about projecting your confidence to the world. Hamid Karzai, here I come!

In other, serious, news, do not expect an Afghanistan announcement until next week, Laura reports.

I'm confused by this post:

I'm confused by this post: does this mean you are going to start dressing like Hamid Karzai?

1. I like Charlie's new blog, whether the blog is meant to be overtly public, or not. How can you not like a site that links to both Apartment Therapy and COIN blogs?

2. Madam Secretary looks good in that jacket. Afghanistan cultural experts - a question: the embroidery looks similar to that from Kashmir. Is this a style of embroidery seen throughout the region, and do the patterns tell us anything? Hey, that's how my goofy mind works, so step off, critics.

3. Fashion is style, and style is not substance, so, in a way, all of this is completely irrelevant. It's nice, I'm sure, but so what? It's a bit cloying, really.

Oh, I mean cloying in a

Oh, I mean cloying in a 'reset button diplomacy' kind of way, not complaining about the post.

Though obviously we'll be doing a "field fashion" post at some point. Is it really that hard to make 5-11s for women that fit?

Aren't 5-11s pleated, and

Aren't 5-11s pleated, and aren't pleats a no-no?

You couldn't find anything at CRC?

I haven't noticed any pleats

I haven't noticed any pleats on the 5-11s, but good memory!

And while CRC / Blackwater is stocked with 5-11 gear, none of it was women's sizes. (To be clear: I *have* two pair of women's 5-11s. They're just too similar in cut/design to female navy uniforms for my taste.)

In any kind of bussiness,

In any kind of bussiness, there are many competitors outside. So we must have a good trick to defeat their sales. At least, our product must be good.

That picture of Clinton

That picture of Clinton really stirs up in me much respect for her. Hillary Clinton is an inspiring figure, and one strong empowered woman. I respect her, and her many strong points. In an interview on Turkey's answer to "The View," Hillary Clinton said that style really isn't her thing.  Sure, her fashion choices were at times awkward, and sometimes she stood out for the wrong reasons. But hey, she never turned up in strange custom t-shirts with strange prints. What we should focus on is what she has contributed to US – undoubtedly, her life’s work specks volumes.
