From David Guttenfelder. I especially like the one of the wildman from 1-26 fighting in his flipflops and pink underwear and the one of the U.S. Marine carrying a 60mm mortar baseplate and what looks to be about 140 pounds of gear on patrol through Helmand. (h/t AS)

I’ve seen some of the photos before — the pink underwear one and a couple of others. I wonder how many miles the marine had to walk with that load? I hope that was a prank load.
I particularly liked the
I particularly liked the photographer's caption for the Marine with the torn shirt: "His shirt was ripped because he had walked for several days with a backpack during an operation. None of the Marines had a change of shirt and were waiting for resupply."
I am left wondering about the lack of a t-shirt and I have to say that the large tear appears to be deliberate - probably for ventilation and also perhaps because he thought it would be cool show off his tats for the news guy. I've got respect for a photographer who will make up something like that to cover that Marine from any uniform nazis who see the photo. Too many photographers are "fire and forget" types who don't consider the repercussions of their work. This photographer seems to be more in tune with the folks whom he's covering.
