Col. (Ret.) Bob Killebrew just told me that Col. Bob Howard was interred today in Arlington. Who was Bob Howard? Maybe the finest warrior ever produced by the U.S. military.

Guess pretty lucky. It is like most things in life, decisions are made by the old guard while the new guard shake rattle and roll. It took a long time for guys like Howard to be main stream. It is the same reason why the US went into Iraq thinking it was a tank war. Think SOCOM is going to get some of that money that we are not going to spend on F22's.
Old ideas die hard, but there is something to learn from them. If the shake rattle and rollers don't learn, then they are going to end up falling off a cliff. Think Micky Roony was the one that said, "you past failure on your way to success".
It is a human condition.....
We should not beat up guys like Howard...they kept the scary things from getting into our bedrooms at night. That goes for guys like Petraeus too. Was watching a Nanking documentary last night about the Japanese invasion in '37. Total war is not a pretty thing to watch, but humans have come close to it. It has its place, but as we are learning the place is not in Iraq/Afgahanistan.....at least not today.
Yup....Howard an American Hero......the right guy at the right time.......just like the F22 was the right jet for its time.
