If pocket video cameras and youtube had been around for any other war, this would be completely unshocking and just more of the same; military is batshit insane regardless of the generation. Yeah, they're military, but they're also a bunch of guys just out of high school and college and boot camp, stuck in the desert with nothing to do. Hey Ex and interns at CNAS - I thought you were supposed to be filtering the filth out of the comment section. Either you and I have a vastly different idea of what "don't be a jerk" means, or someone's asleep at their desk.
Frankly, I've loved the quality of the posts on this blog and the product that comes out of CNAS, even if I don't always agree with it. I think I've reached my tipping point this time. Between having to wade through the crap that passes for legitimate, non-jerk-like discussion in the comments section, and the recent hiring of Barno of all (http://thecable.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2010/03/24/exclusive_former_top_...), I think I'll be writing CNAS out of the loop of places I look to for analysis. I can get quality at least as good as what is put out at CNAS at a number of other organizations around DC, minus the filth.
