Other than academic interest, I still do not understand why American tax dollars should pay for this.

I never watched "The Wire," nor do I know a thing about Lebanese politics, but could one liken Lebanese politics to "The Sopranos" or "The Godfather," say, as well? Perhaps a "pop culture analogies" contest is in order? The winner gets a signed copy of AM's dissertation?

When they do mess with another cop he duly pounds the shit out of them but warns in advance which corners he'll attack? Worries what other cops in other cities think of his behavior ? Has the means to permanently put an end to slinging on corners but decides no to because he worries about what cops in New York, New Brunswick and Buenos Aires might think about the means necessary to do it and knows that Marlo's boys wil burn a good portion of the more comfortable parts of Baltimore before they go down.

And if Colicchio is the IDF in Lebanon, what would that make the US Army and Marines in Iraq and Afganistan? Yes, Andrew, I believe you personally only killed cocksuckers who really deserved it, but in general?

I havent really watched the Wire, so I cant specify, but you are in general right that theres a lot more thug-life dynamics in intl. politics than there is Grand Strategy. This goes from Tunisia to Hezbollah, from Israel to Blackwater.
