I had grown used to spending my days digesting casualty reports from the Arabic-speaking world -- 14 killed in Homs, 36 killed in and around Damascus, etc. Today, by contrast, I am digesting the growing list of the dead in and around my hometown. Say a prayer for the people of the South today, and especially for folks in and around my hometown of Chattanooga. Thanks.

You think that Obama will bother? This one flies all over the world. His secretary of state is the Johnny Apple Seed of green cash. Congressmen line up to go to Iraq and Afghanistan to stay in four star hotels. Did Pelosi get over her illness in Italy? Did she see her Italian holiday parade?

The US has had floods and death at all points of the compass, it barely gets a peep. What happened to the miner out west? How about the one in Chile?

And Hillary wants more foreign news coverage.

People died in a tragic natural disaster and the trolls are slinging political bullshit before the victims are even in the ground...disgusting. Instead of turning this into an attack on those damn lib'rul kenyans, how about we all show some fucking respect and keep our worthless opinions to ourself.

Ex - I appreciate the sincerity of your post. I'm not a religious man, but my thoughts are with those who lost friends and loved ones in the storm.

Off topic, their is a deeply held view among many ANA officers and NCOs that ISAF secretly backs the Taliban, Al Qaeda and Pakistan against them. This is the largest single threat to the ISAF mission in Afghanistan right now. And it is generating great anger against ISAF from Afghans.

From the Afghan point of view it seems rational. They think ISAF has sabotaged the development of the ANSF and continually sides with Pakistanis against Afghans. It also isn't lost on Afghans that the Taliban kill several times as many ANSF as ISAF.

Obama and weather control? That is a stretch. From his actions, we all know he has enough ego to think he could change the weather. I can see the vision of Obama at the rock concert summing up the crowd for change. LOL. Thing is he could get the crowd thinking he could do it, that is the fantasy of hope and change. People that want some one else to support them will believe in just about anything to keep the money flowing.

Think more Brevard County Florida. Today is the last Space Shuttle launch. No Obama did not end the Space Shuttle program, that was done by Congress a long time ago. Is Obama going to Florida because he cares about the Space Program or because Representative Giffords will attend?

Obama ended Constellation and with it a bunch of Space program careers. That leaves Giffords.

People in Brevard are mostly conservative people and they are livid with Obama. It is not about the Space Program, it about the politics. I am hoping the news agencies get off the Space Center property long enough to interview the people in Brevard and ask them what they think of Obama coming to the area.

Alabama was just on the way to Florida, another campaign stop. Egypt got $90 Million, Tunisia got $25M, Libya Rebels got $25M, Indonesia got $25M, Japan got a flotilla of war ships and all the resources of a willing President.

Alabama will get lip service.

Tomorrow it will be 2012, just like it was yesterday.

We do not have a President, we have a Campaigner and Chief. Obama tends to ignore the people that do not support him. He has black listed news agencies. It is the way he does politics.

It is sort of hard to black list half a nation. I have to pay for his salary for the rest of his years, I do not have to listen to his bullshit.

Well the launch got delayed. Obama did not get his photo op with Giffords. See the press is making Obama a Space Hero. Like to see him convince the laid off space workers in Houston, Huntsville , and Brevard County Florida.

Obama went to Alabama and said, "I have never seen devastation like this."

Where did he grow up? F'ing Kansas is tornado alley. Just about every state east of the Mississippi has tornadoes. Illinois gets rake with tornadoes every spring. Where the hell has he been? He was the Illinois Senator.

Florida just had some bad ones that ripped up the I4 corridor in April. If he took some time to go see the people effected !

Maybe Obama should try staying in the US for a while and he would see the same things we do. I have been through CAT 1 -4 Hurricanes that balled up whole cities and seen some really bad tornado damage in the Midwest (yes it was in Obama's home state).

And the democrats can not figure out why Americans think Obama is not one of us????? Ain't got nothin to do with where he was born.

Im not a believer, but the folks affected by this awful turn of temper from mother nature are definitely in my thoughts. I can't imagine what its like to live at the the whim of the unseen and unknown. Whilst here in Ireland we are saddled with more than our fair share of rain (think Seattle) we never have to suffer the fate of these poor souls.

30,000 people dead in mega-tsunami. 300 dead in mega-tornado. And at least the tornado didn't slam into Brown's Ferry nuclear reactors, as the tsunami did in Fukushima. Still sucks, tho.

A federal program to help build basements in people's homes might not be a bad idea, too. That seemed to make the difference between survival or not.

I'll take a little investment in preparation over the prayer route:
