Lt Col Jason Combs received his commission from the United States Air Force Academy in June 1994. He has served as a B-1 instructor pilot, B-1 wing weapons officer, B-1 Formal Training Unit flight instructor, and Chief of Safety. Lt Col Combs has operational experience in PACOM and CENTCOM as well as combat tours in Operation Enduring Freedom.
Prior to this assignment, Lt Col Combs came from Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, where he was Commander of the 28th Operations Support Squadron. While at Ellsworth he also served as the Director of Staff of the 28th Bomb Wing. He has a broad background in airpower operations including a one-year assignment as the Chief of Safety of the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar and service at the Pentagon as Deputy Chief, Joint Studies and Analysis.
Lt Col Combs holds an undergraduate degree in biology and graduate degrees in Military Arts and Sciences and Airpower Art and Science. He is a graduate of Army Command and General Staff College, School of Advanced Air and Space Studies, as well as Air War College via correspondence.
