U.S. Policy in Southeast Asia: A Conversation with Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes

CNAS hosted an on-the-record event featuring Ben Rhodes, Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications and Speechwriting.  Mr. Rhodes discussed key policy developments in Asia in advance of President Obama’s next trip to Asia in the latter half of May.  That trip included the President’s first-ever visit to Vietnam, as well as his participation in the G-7 summit in Japan.  Mr. Rhodes spoke about changes in U.S.-Myanmar relations in the aftermath of the newly elected government led by State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi.

The Honorable Dr. Kurt M. Campbell, CNAS co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors and former Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs moderated the conversation.
