Harry Wingo is a Policy Counsel in Google's Washington, where he leads the company's work on smart energy, cybersecurity, and a range of other Internet policy issues.
Before joining Google, Harry was Executive Vice President of CURRENT Group, where he advocated to increase the efficiency, reliability, and security of the nation's electric distribution grids.
From March 2005 to February 2007 he served as Counsel to the Senate Commerce Committee, where he handled issues including the digital television transition, broadband deployment, spectrum management, and industry competition. From Jan 2002 to March 2005 he was at the Federal Communications Commission, serving one year as Legal Advisor to the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau Chief and two years as Special Counsel to the General Counsel.
Earlier in his career, Wingo practiced law at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP, and served as Law Clerk to the Honorable James Robertson, United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
Harry served as a U.S. Navy SEAL officer for six years. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where he was an All-American collegiate boxing champion, and Yale Law School
