Daniel Gearin

Joseph S. Nye, Jr. National Security Research Intern

Daniel Gearin was a Joseph S. Nye, Jr. National Security Research Intern at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), where he supported the Asia-Pacific Security team. Prior to joining CNAS, Daniel was a research fellow at the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission.  He previously held internship positions at the National Defense University, the Brookings Institution, the United Nations Development Programme in Beijing, and the State Department.

He graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in International Affairs and a minor in East Asian Studies from Northeastern University in Boston. He spent two years living abroad in Beijing, China studying Mandarin Chinese.  Daniel is currently an M.A. candidate at the George Washington University in the Elliott School of International Affairs, where he has a regional focus on Asia.
