Senior Research Scientist
Dr. Lloyd P. Hough is a Senior Research Scientist at Battelle in their InternationalTechnology Assessments group. His background is in the microbiology and molecularbiology of pathogens. He received his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the Michigan StateUniversity in 1999. From 1999 to 2007, Dr. Hough worked for Battelle’s AppliedBiology and Aerosol Technology group in Columbus, OH where he was responsible fora variety of laboratory-based research projects to support biodefense includingmicrobial forensics, biodetection and biomedical research to characterize the risks andhazards posed by biological threat agents under various U.S. Government contracts. In2007, Dr. Hough transferred to the Battelle National Biodefense Institute, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiaryof Battelle organized to manage and operate the National Biodefense Analysis and CountermeasuresCenter (NBACC) as a Federally-Funded Research and Development Center for the U.S. Department ofHomeland Security. At the NBACC, Dr. Hough worked on a variety of projects to characterize the risksand hazards posed by pathogenic species of Bacillus, including B. anthracis. Dr. Hough joined Battelle’sInternational Technology Assessments group in 2011, where he supports the U.S. biodefense communityperforming mostly literature-based research and evaluation.
