February 4, 2009 — February 4, 2009 - NPR's Neal Conan interviews CNAS Senior Fellow John Nagl on Talk of the Nation regarding Afghanistan. Nagl explains why a surge in Afghanistan is not enough, why there may be increased American casualties and why some of our best weapons are not always weapons. John says, "Afghanistan is harder than Iraq. Afghanistan is a bigger country. It's a more populous country. It has very serious ethnic divisions, very, very difficult terrain...and perhaps most importantly it shares a border with Pakistan one of the world's most dangerous and least stable countries, a nuclear armed country and the base no just of Al Qaeda but also the Taliban."
