John Nagl and Terrie Suit gave keynote addresses at the U.S. Naval Institute and Military Officers Association Wounded Warriors Forum on reintegrating returning war veterans into civilian life and issues of readjustment in the workplace and at home. Dr. Nagl talked about the initial task of going to war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the miscalculations that were made. He said that peace was not well-planned and that both campaigns have been costly in terms of loss of lives and soldiers returning with disabilities. Terrie Suit talked about Virginia's efforts to help service members readjust to civilian life, including allowing military children to get in-state tuition, and programs to combat homelessness.
