January 28, 2009 — The Pentagon announced that soldiers suffering from post traumatic stress disorder do not qualify for the Purple Heart because it's not a physical wound. Some veterans hoped the award might honor their sacrifice, and take away some of the stigma that comes with the diagnosis.

Guests:

  • Kelly Kennedy, staff writer for Army Times
  • Capt. D.J. Skelton, Purple Heart recipient
  • Jason Forrester, director of policy and co-director of the National Guard program at Veterans for America (VFA)
