Virtual Event | One Year After Withdrawal: Update on Afghanistan

4:00pm to 5:15pm ET

Watch:

One September 27 CNAS hosted a panel that discussed developments in Afghanistan since America’s withdrawal and how the U.S. should manage continuing challenges in the country, including the ongoing humanitarian crisis, deteriorating human rights—especially for women and girls—and continued terrorist threats. Our panelists assessed engagement with the Taliban over the last year, how the United States can support Afghan civil society, what role the UN should play moving forward, and U.S. efforts to evacuate Afghans who have supported the U.S. mission and continue to face dire risks.
