Col timothy w. Holman is the 2016-17 Chief of Staff of the Army Senior Fellow at the Center for New American Security.

He holds a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics Secondary Education from Alcorn State University, a Master's of Science in Engineering Management from Missouri University of Science and Technology, and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.

Colonel Holman is an Engineer Officer. His commands include the 555th Engineer Brigade, 7th Infantry Division, 1st US Corps, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington; the 54th Engineer Battalion, 18th Engineer Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Bamberg, Germany and Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan; A Company, 4th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Colonel Holman’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (2nd award), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5th award), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (4th award) the Joint MeritoriousUnit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation (2nd award), and Army Superior Unit Award. Hehas earned the Office of the Secretary of Defense Staff Badge, the Army Staff Badge, and the Parachutists Badge.
