Alliance is the best defence

The ANZUS Treaty and the broader alliance with the United States are more important to Australia’s security than ever before as regional states arm themselves with ever more..sophisticated military equipment, says Australia’s ambassador to the US, Kim Beazley.

America’s military capability advantage over the rest of the world has widened over the past decade, and Australia is buying “just about an entire air force” from the US at the moment, pushing us into closer and deeper everyday cooperation regardless of leaders’ relations, Beazley says.
