Cuts To Ground Forces Loom Large In Strategic-Choices Review (Updated)
The Pentagon is considering cutting the size of the Army and Marine Corps to pre-9/11 levels to slash security spending in the coming years, according to sources tracking the deliberations.
The Army and Marine Corps were already slated to downsize, but the new proposals -- being weighed by the Pentagon's Strategic Choices Group to inform fiscal year 2013 budget plans -- would cut troop levels deeper than previously announced targets.
