"U.S. support to the Iraqi security forces might waver if policymakers or legislators in Washington believe the Iraqi military is being co-opted by the PMF, or used to supply and strengthen PMF capabilities, with particular concern over units that identify with the anti-American 'resistance' movement," said Jonathan Lord, director of the Middle East Security Program ant the Center for a New American Security.

Iraqi leaders across the political spectrum generally rule out the idea of disbanding the Hasid or even integrating Hashid groups into the Iraqi army.
