Polish President Asks Trump Not to Withdraw Troops From Europe

Polish President Andrzej Duda asked President Trump not to withdraw U.S. troops from Europe, using his visit to the White House to express mounting European concerns over the administration’s security policy.

“I requested, Mr. President, that he would not withdraw U.S. forces from Europe because the security of Europe is very important to me,” Mr. Duda said Wednesday during a joint press conference with Mr. Trump.

But Mr. Trump held to his position, telling reporters that he was determined to cut in half the number of U.S. troops in Germany that are there on a permanent or rotating basis because the German government has failed to spend enough on its military.
