The stage is set for Afghan government-Taliban peace talks

Last week the Afghan government approved the release of 400 Taliban fighters, setting the stage for negotiations with the terrorist group which are due to begin imminently. Will these talks bring peace to the war-torn country? Or has the government due backed into a corner by the US to hasten the withdrawal of their troops for political gain?
