A Visit by Francis H. Jardeleza, Solicitor General of the Philippines
On Tuesday, March 18, the Center for a New American Security’s Asia team was honored to host Francis H. Jardeleza, Solicitor General of the Philippines, for a discussion of his country’s ongoing arbitration case against China at the International Tribunal on the Law of the Sea. While most of Washington hunkered down through another snowstorm, Solicitor General Jardeleza addressed an audience of leading Asia and legal scholars on “The Philippines, China and the Rule of Law in the West Philippine Sea.” His remarks are appended here. We are grateful to Solicitor General Jardeleza and the Embassy of the Philippines for facilitating this conversation on such a critical issue for the future of rules and norms in the Asia-Pacific.
