Virtual Event | India-China Border Tensions and U.S. Strategy in the Indo-Pacific

The Center for a New American Security hosted an event to release a new report by CNAS Indo-Pacific Security Program Director Lisa Curtis and RAND Corporation Senior Defense Analyst Derek Grossman, “India-China Border Tensions and U.S. Strategy in the Indo-Pacific.” This landmark new report examines the increasingly frequent border intrusions and clashes that threaten to lead to all-out conflict between the two Asian giants. The report assesses the implications of border tensions for the United States and its Indo-Pacific strategy and provides recommendations for U.S. policy to prepare for a quick response to future India-China border crises.

The event featured keynote remarks from Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR), followed by remarks from co-authors Lisa Curtis and Derek Grossman on the report's findings and recommendations. The event will continue with an expert panel discussion featuring M. Taylor Fravel, Arthur and Ruth Sloan Professor of Political Science and Director of the MIT Security Studies Program; Aparna Pande, Research Fellow and Director of the India Initiative at the Hudson Institute; and Dave Shullman, Senior Director of the Global China Hub at the Atlantic Council.
