Nicholas Lokker

Research Areas

Nicholas Lokker is an adjunct fellow for the Transatlantic Security Program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS). His work focuses on U.S.-Europe-Russia relations; the role of norms and institutions in international security; Russian foreign and security policy; and European integration.

Lokker previously worked as a Research Associate at CNAS, and he has also worked at the Center for European Policy Analysis, the European Parliamentary Research Service, and the American-German Institute at Johns Hopkins University. He also spent a year teaching English in Clermont-Ferrand, France. He has published in The Washington Quarterly, Foreign Policy, Politico Europe, War on the Rocks, and Lawfare, among other outlets.

Lokker is currently working toward a PhD in international relations from the School of International Service at American University. He holds a BA in political science and romance languages from Duke University and an MA in European studies from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. Lokker is proficient in French and Spanish, and he has also studied German and Russian. He can be contacted at [email protected].
