Watch:

The Center for a New American Security hosted an event to release a new report by CNAS Indo-Pacific Security Program Senior Fellow Jacob Stokes and CNAS Indo-Pacific Security Program Associate Fellow Joshua Fitt, “Peninsula Plus: Enhancing U.S.-South Korea Cooperation on China, Multilateralism, and Military and Security Technologies.” This new report examines the future of the U.S.-ROK alliance in a dynamic moment marked by enormous security challenges as well as some new cooperation opportunities. The report assesses three vital policy areas of the bilateral relationship — coordination on China, alignment in minilateral and multilateral settings, and defense technology collaboration — and provides policy recommendations for both countries.

The event featured introductory remarks from co-authors Jacob Stokes and Joshua Fitt on the report's findings and recommendations. The event continued with an expert panel discussion moderated by Alex Ward, National Security Reporter at POLITICO, with panelists Lami Kim, Associate Professor and Director of Asian Studies at the U.S. Army War College, and Andrew Yeo, Senior Fellow and the SK-Korea Foundation Chair at the Brookings Institution’s Center for East Asia Policy Studies.
