Dr. Alec D. Barker

Alec D. Barker, Ph.D. is a Principal at MITRE, where he focuses on artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, decision science, strategy, and policy in support of national security.

Dr. Barker was previously Director of Research at Group W Inc. He has held management, research, analysis, and consulting positions at firms including Detica, DFI International, and BAE Systems, where he was a Senior Manager of Defense Policy and Programs. Before entering the private sector, he served in the United States Army and attained the rank of Captain.

His previous affiliations include Adjunct Faculty and Associate Director of the Center for Location Science at George Mason University as well as Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Integrated Science and Technology at James Madison University.

He earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the College of Science at George Mason University, a Master of Arts degree from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
