Ian Crone joined the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in 2017 as a Program Manager in the Information Innovation Office, where he manages programs to create breakthrough capabilities in cyber security and enable cyber deterrence.

Before DARPA, Ian served as an active duty naval intelligence officer from 2010 to 2014. He commissioned through Officer Candidate School and served as PACOM division officer, project officer, and liaison to multiple government agencies while at the Navy Cyber Warfare Development Group. Ian was a founding member of the Chief of Naval Operations' Rapid Innovation Cell, where he worked to identify emerging technologies with relevance to naval missions. After leaving active duty, he supported the Office of Naval Research as a senior analyst supporting cybersecurity projects from 2015 to 2017.

Ian graduated with honors from Columbia University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History and received a Master of Arts in Security Studies from Georgetown University in 2014. He grew up in Connecticut and lives in Arlington, VA.
