Mycal Ford is an analyst at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he focuses on combatting transnational illicit finance threats and addressing other international economic challenges. Prior to his current role, Ford worked at Sayari Labs, a Washington DC-based technology firm that develops open source data and financial intelligence products. In his role at Sayari, he used publicly available information to investigate individuals and companies engaged in international sanctions evasion, narcotics trafficking, and WMD proliferation. Ford’s professional experience also includes the Department of Defense, the Congressional-Executive Commission on China, and the Center for Advance Defense Studies (C4ADS).

In December 2018, Ford was named as a Black American National Security and Foreign Policy Next Generation Leader by the Diversity in National Security Network and New America.

Mycal earned a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the School of International Service at American University and a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Studies and Political Science from Pacific Lutheran University. During his studies, he received the Department of Defense David L. Boren Fellowship (China) and both the U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship (China) and Fulbright (Taiwan). Ford speaks and read Mandarin fluently.
