This Group Pushed More AI in US Security—and Boosted Big Tech

The commission also suggested new investment in training AI experts, research inside and outside the Pentagon, and support for US semiconductor development. The group’s overall message? Artificial intelligence is central to the country's destiny and safety—and to competing with China’s plans to dominate in commercial and military AI.

“The commission put forward a very concrete, strategic plan for US technology policy,” says Martijn Rasser, director of the technology and national security program at think tank the Center for a New American Security. “It’s fantastic to see so many of the ideas put forward making it into legislation.”
