Book Party Celebrating the Publication of America Between the Wars -- From 11/9 to 9/11

Jul 18, 2008
8:00am to 6:00pm ET

In America Between the Wars, Derek Chollet and James Goldgeier examine how the decisions and debates of the years between the fall of the Wall on 11/9 and the collapse of the Twin Towers on 9/11 shaped the events, arguments, and politics of the world we live in today.

The book draws on scores of interviews the authors conducted with leaders across the political spectrum – from Colin Powell and Newt Gingrich, to Madeleine Albright and Robert Rubin, to Pat Buchanan and Ralph Nader – as well on declassified government documents. The authors explain how liberals and conservatives reacted to the collapse of communism and tried to refashion themselves to forge a new kind of politics. In telling this dramatic story, America Between the Wars changes the way we should think about the recent past -- and uncovers important lessons for the future.
