Special Event: Australian and U.S. Approaches to Cyber and Critical Technologies

May 25, 2021
6:00pm to 7:00pm ET

Liberal democracies face a number of national security challenges from malicious cyber activities and emerging technologies including AI, quantum computing, and biotechnology. At the same time, there are opportunities to strengthen innovation, ensure economic competitiveness, and shape global norms and values on cyber and critical technologies.

To discuss Australian and U.S. approaches to these threats and opportunities, CNAS hosted Ambassador Tobias Feakin, Australia’s inaugural Ambassador for Cyber Affairs and Critical Technology, Lauren Zabierek, Executive Director of the Cyber Project at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center, and Tarun Chhabra, Senior Director for Technology and National Security on the National Security Council on May 25, 2021.

Ambassador Feakin, Ms. Zabierek, and Mr. Chhabra were introduced by Martijn Rasser, Senior Fellow in the CNAS Technology and National Security Program, for a panel discussion.
