Nov 17, 2022
12:00am to 12:00am

Thank you for your interest in joining CNAS for a discussion about governance and security in Syria with SDC Executive Committee President Elham Ahmed. Due to scheduling conflicts this event has been postponed, and a new date will be announced soon. Check out the CNAS event page for other great programs.

About the Event

The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) was established in 2015 as the political and governance wing of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to provide political representation and re-establish stability in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES). Since its inception the SDC has worked to establish local and representative governance structures for the people of northeast Syria.

Please join CNAS for an upcoming virtual event featuring a conversation with Executive Committee President of the SDC Ms. Elham Ahmed on November 17, 2022, from 3:00pm to 4:00pm ET, hosted by Jonathan Lord, Senior Fellow and Director of the Middle East Security Program at CNAS. This conversation will address the partnership between the United States and the SDC in the AANES, persistent challenges stemming from ISIS’ physical and ideological presence in the region, threats to stability posed by regional actors, and the prospects for increased economic opportunity and growth.
