Capt Daniel McGurkin is a Captain in the United States Marine Corps stationed in Colorado and serving as a mentor to Marine Corps Reserve intelligence leaders. Prior to his current assignment Dan served as a fellow in the intelligence community, as a daily intelligence briefer to the White House, and operationally in the Middle East.

Dan received his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington, where he also studied abroad and attended proceedings at the International Criminal Court. He earned an MS in Strategic Intelligence with a Concentration in China Studies from the National Intelligence University and subsequently served as an adjunct faculty member in the NIU College of Strategic Intelligence. Dan has been a speaker and panelist at Office of the Director of National Intelligence events and recognized for novel thinking in US national security. He was born and raised in Idaho.
