Research Areas

Dr. Go Myong-Hyun is an Adjunct Senior Fellow for the Energy, Economics and Security Program.

He is also a senior research fellow at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies in Seoul, Korea. Prior to joining the Asan Institute, Dr. Go was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles, Neuropsychiatry Institute focusing on the geospatial analysis of communicable disease spread. His research applies quantitative perspectives to traditional and non-traditional security issues, with special focus on North Korea's economy, sanctions, and the regime’s long-term viability.

Dr Go is also an Adjunct Professor at the Korea University School of Cybersecurity, an Associate Fellow of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), and a Munich Young Leader of the Munich Security Conference 2015 . He is widely cited by the international media on North Korea and Northeast Asian security, and received a B.A. in economics-mathematics and M.A. in statistics from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in policy analysis from the Pardee RAND Graduate School.
