Sarath K. Ganji leads the Autocracy and Global Sports Project, an independent initiative launched in 2021 to investigate the role of malign finance in the global sports sector. Before founding the Project, Sarath was a strategy consultant with Guidehouse’s National Security practice, where he counseled U.S. Department of State clients, and an analyst-in-charge at the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, where he conducted oversight of over $1 billion in U.S. aid programs. His work has appeared in top policy journals, including the Journal of International Affairs and the Journal of Democracy, and his commentary has been featured in media outlets like NPR and Vox.

A native of central Louisiana, Sarath holds degrees from Georgetown University and the Harvard Kennedy School, where he was awarded the Frederick Sheldon Fellowship, one of the university’s oldest prizes. He serves as a mentor to the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress’s presidential fellows and as a volunteer with the Urban Debate League’s youth competitors.
