CNAS Congratulates Board of Advisors Member Richard Spencer on Nomination to Serve as Secretary of the Navy

The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) congratulates Richard Spencer, member of the CNAS Board of Advisors and Managing Director of Fall Creek Management, LLC, on his nomination to serve as Secretary of the Navy. As a member of the Board of Advisors, Spencer helps inform CNAS’ research and expand its community of interest.

“Richard will make an excellent Secretary of the Navy,” said CNAS CEO Michèle Flournoy. “As a former Marine, he understands the needs of the naval services. As a former Vice Chairman of the Defense Business Board and a member of the Chief of Naval Operations Executive Panel, he will bring strong experience and fresh ideas to the position. CNAS congratulates him on his appointment.”

Richard Danzig, a member of CNAS’ Board of Directors and a former Secretary of the Navy, agreed with Flournoy. “It is excellent to see the nomination of a Secretary who is knowledgeable, engaged, and committed to the well-being of the Navy and Marine Corps. Richard Spencer has these qualities and the potential to be an exceptional Secretary."
