Jeremy Achin and Roderick Jones Join CNAS Board of Advisors

The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) today announced that Jeremy Achin, CEO and co-founder of DataRobot, and Roderick Jones, Executive Chairman of Concentric Advisors, have joined the CNAS Board of Advisors. As members of the Board, they will contribute to the development and execution of the organization’s intellectual agenda.

The Board of Advisors is comprised of prominent leaders from the private sector, academia, the military and government who help inform the Center’s research and expand its community of interest.

“We are pleased to welcome Jeremy and Roderick to the CNAS Board of Advisors," said CNAS CEO Richard Fontaine. “As the Center continues its work on advancing digital freedom and tackling the challenges of high-tech illiberalism, Jeremy and Roderick’s wealth of experience in artificial intelligence, military intelligence and cybersecurity will greatly benefit our experts and research.”

Jeremy Achin is the CEO and co-founder of DataRobot. As a data scientist turned entrepreneur, Achin set his sights on automating his job. He turned passion into product in 2012. With customers ranging from Fortune 500 companies to government agencies, hospitals, nonprofits, and more, DataRobot, under Achin’s leadership, is helping more people succeed with AI. A leader from humble beginnings who dropped out of high school, Achin rediscovered his love for mathematics and computer science, attending UMass Lowell and eventually working his way into management at Travelers Insurance. Achin took the initiative to launch a new company in 2012, which led to acceptance in the coveted TechStars program, thus ushering the formation of DataRobot.

Mr. Achin is now dedicated to mentoring the next generation of data science enthusiasts and helping organizations capitalize on the 4th industrial revolution. As a business owner and startup leader in the world’s fastest growing industry, Achin is also a strong advocate for the ethical and responsible use of AI. With some of the top-ranked data scientists in the world, DataRobot is uniquely positioned to provide valuable and trusted insights that will arm policy makers with the information they need to make better decisions related to critical national security issues.

Roderick Jones, Executive Chairman of Concentric Advisors, began his career with Scotland Yard’s Special Branch focused on international terrorism and the close protection of a prominent British cabinet member. Following his move to San Francisco, Jones founded the private security company Concentric Advisors, and served as CEO for seven years growing it to become one of the largest and most influential privately held security firms on the west coast of the United States. His work during this period included the design and delivery of security for a number of high-growth Silicon Valley companies. In 2016, Jones also co-founded and became the initial CEO of Rubica, Inc., a cybersecurity company providing advanced protection to individuals through the provision of localized network security.

Mr. Jones has consulted widely on next-generation security projects with the United States military and intelligence community, notably the impact of online gaming and virtual worlds as well as the threat of computer hacking to financial markets. He has been asked to brief at the White House, Downing Street and the Pentagon on a variety of national security topics during his career, and is a frequent guest speaker at national and international conferences. Jones holds a master’s degree in history from the University of Cambridge, and spends his spare time helping to run a community soccer team in San Francisco.
