Want to work at CNAS?

I'm here to tell you that working as a fellow at CNAS is perhaps the best job in Washington, DC. In large part due to our tiny office, though, opportunities to hire more staff at the fellow and senior fellow level are limited. Right now, though, CNAS is in the process of hiring a fellow to support our new Joining Forces initiative, and, no surprise, we have already received applications from some great candidates. I wanted to put this notice out on the blog, though, because a lot of security studies generalists and veterans read this, and we are looking for both. Whoever we hire will be initially responsible for a particular initiative but will be encouraged and even expected to follow their own research interests as well. We enthusiastically recruit veterans at CNAS, so if you have served and have strong research skills, please apply. My idea of the ideal candidate for this particular position would be a veteran who left the service, attended graduate school in political science, economics or a related field, and is now looking to do serious policy research while running a high-profile project.
