US midterm elections 2018: Democrats abroad in the Indo-Pacific

A partial "blue wave" crested over the US House of Representatives this week, ushering in a Democratic majority there for the first time in eight years. With Republicans strengthening their hold on the Senate, and with Republican Donald Trump in the White House, Washington is returning to divided government.

Observers across the Indo-Pacific are naturally asking what the political shift augurs for America's policy in Asia.
