Part of Indo-Pacific Security

The India Opportunity

The United States has achieved significant progress in strengthening ties to India over the last several years—a foreign policy goal that enjoys strong bipartisan support. Events during the past year, including the global pandemic and Chinese aggression along the disputed India-China border, have catalyzed even greater support in both India and the United States for enhancing cooperation, particularly on defense, technology, health security, global economic development, and on other challenges to maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific.

The Indo-Pacific Security Program will lead a major Center-wide initiative called, U.S.-India 2030: A Maximalist Vision of U.S.-India Relations, which will form the core of the program’s research efforts on strengthening the U.S.-India partnership.
