Strengthening Alliances

The last five years have transformed geopolitics, with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the COVID-19 pandemic, the rise of China, and advancing technologies bringing profound changes to the global order. In a world of rapid change, it is more important than ever that the United States addresses the most pressing challenges in coordination with its European allies and partners. This cooperation acts as a force multiplier, amplifying U.S. influence and leadership in the world.

To that end, the Transatlantic Security Program analyzes shared challenges to the United States and Europe–especially China’s rise–and formulates innovative recommendations for strengthening cohesion between the United States and Europe in addressing them. We accomplish this by looking beyond the daily headlines and focusing on deeper trends likely to shape events over the horizon.
