CNAS Announces New Conference Speakers and Axios Media Partners

Washington, June 4, 2021— Today, CNAS announced new speakers and moderators who will join the 2021 CNAS National Security Conference. The conference, A New American Security, will explore emerging challenges and ideas over four days of engaging panels and live events with CNAS experts and guest speakers. The newest speakers include the following:

  • Kristen Silverberg, former U.S. ambassador to the European Union, and Vance Serchuk, CNAS adjunct senior fellow and former senior foreign policy advisor to Sen. Joseph Lieberman, will join Ilan Goldenberg and Stacie Pettyjohn for a discussion moderated by Axios World News Editor Dave Lawler on the changing foreign policy landscape and how the United States should address emerging and longstanding challenges in innovative ways. This panel is part of the conference’s opening session which begins 11:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, June 8.
  • Axios Future Correspondent Bryan Walsh will moderate the panel “Global Digital Order,” that will include Lisa Curtis, Martijn Rasser, and other experts for a discussion about how the United States can regain its edge as the global technology competition intensifies. The session takes place at 1:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 8.
  • Axios National Political Correspondent Jonathan Swan will moderate the panel “Protecting Democracy, Protecting National Security,” which features Rep. Meijer (R-MI), Rep. Slotkin (D-MI), and Robert M. Gates Senior Fellow Carrie Cordero. The panel will explore why bolstering democracy at home in the face of an elevated threat from domestic extremist violence is a national security imperative. The panel begins at 11:00 a.m. ET on Thursday, June 10.
