CNAS Statement on Kurt Campbell's Confirmation to Deputy Secretary of State 

Washington, February 6, 2024 — Today, the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) released the following statement on Kurt Campbell's confirmation as Deputy Secretary of State.

“Kurt will make a stellar, creative, and energetic Deputy Secretary of State,” said Richard Fontaine, Chief Executive Officer of CNAS. “Kurt Campbell's confirmation also signals that, even amid war in the Middle East and Europe, the administration will focus on Asia as its priority region and China as its preeminent challenge.”
