CNAS Welcomes Jon B. Wolfsthal as Adjunct Senior Fellow

Washington, January 31, 2023—The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) is pleased to welcome Jon B. Wolfsthal as an Adjunct Senior Fellow in the Transatlantic Security Program.

Wolfsthal is senior advisor to Global Zero, serves on the Science and Security Board of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, and is a member of the U.S. Department of State’s International Security Advisory Board. Wolfsthal previously served as Special Assistant to President Barack Obama for National Security Affairs and as a senior director at the National Security Council for arms control and nonproliferation.

Wolfsthal is the co-author of Deadly Arsenals: Tracking Weapons of Mass Destruction, and a leading authority on nuclear weapons policy, regional proliferation, arms control and nuclear deterrence.

“Jon has been a leader on nuclear policy and nonproliferation issues for decades,” said Andrea Kendall-Taylor, Senior Fellow and Director of the Transatlantic Security Program. "During this time of great tumult prompted by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Jon's deep understanding of arms control and strategic stability issues will prove invaluable to our research at CNAS."
