Conference on Civil-Military Divide and The Future of the All-Volunteer Force

Nov 20, 2014
9:00am to 1:00pm ET

Willard InterContinental Hotel
Washington, DC

More than 2.6 million service members have deployed over the past 13 years to Iraq, Afghanistan, and other theaters of war. Despite the many strains on the force and its growing distance from the American people, the successful deployment and sustainment of the all-volunteer force during these wars stands as a major accomplishment. However, as the military comes home and resets itself from war, and prepares both for peace and the conflicts of the future, the moment has come to reflect on the successes and failures of the past 13 years. It is exactly the right time to design the all-volunteer force of the future.

The Center for a New American Security hosted a half-day conference on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. addressing these important issues.
