Research Areas

Isabel Dlabach is a Joseph S. Nye, Jr. Intern for the Transatlantic Security Program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS).

Prior to joining CNAS, Dlabach interned at the Defense Intelligence Agency and the U.S. Department of State, where she served on the Oman and UAE desks in the Office of Arabian Peninsula Affairs. She also completed a fellowship with National Security Action.

Dlabach holds B.A. in Foreign Affairs and Master of Public Policy degrees from the University of Virginia. She was a student research associate at UVA’s National Security Policy Center, where she conducted research on the impact of China’s loans and Belt and Road Initiative projects in Africa and supported a project on the landscape of future national security threats. She is a current M.A. in Security Policy Studies student at The George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs, with a concentration in U.S. National Security and specific interests in Russia, European and Eurasian security, great power competition, and U.S. grand strategy.
