POSTPONED | One Year In: DIU 3.0 and the Path Forward

May 16, 2024
10:00am to 11:00am ET

Unfortunately this event has been postponed. We will announce a new date in the future.

In February 2024, Director of the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and Senior Advisor for the Secretary of Defense Doug Beck published “DIU 3.0”: Scaling Defense Innovation for Strategic Impact, outlining “the critical shift in focus, action, and resourcing that DIU will undertake” to ensure that the U.S. Department of Defense “can leverage the best of commercial technology and innovation at speed and scale to deter major conflict or win if forced to fight.” Today, with a budget of $983 million allocated by Congress in 2024 and a historical tipping point in the Great Power Competition, “DIU 3.0” is moving forward to address the critical security challenges of today and tomorrow.

Join the Center for a New American Security on Thursday, May 16 from 10:00-11:00 a.m ET for a virtual discussion with Mr. Doug Beck. Hosted by Fellow Andrew Metrick, Executive Director of the CNAS Defense Technology Task Force, this conversation will reflect upon Mr. Beck’s first year as DIU Director and look ahead to the implementation and impact of DIU 3.0. Richard Fontaine, Chief Executive Officer of CNAS will provide opening remarks.
