Anthony Aslou

Anthony Aslou currently serves as an Intelligence Research Specialist in the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security, analyzing intelligence and drafting assessments on current and emerging threats to U.S. diplomatic personnel, facilities, and operations. Prior to this, Anthony served in several roles in the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM). He worked as a Maritime Migration Officer to ensure interdicted migrants at sea are resettled and repatriated appropriately, as a Lebanon Program Officer supporting an ad-hoc Lebanon Emergency Response Team in successfully obligating funds toward emergency requests from UNICEF and UNHCR, and as a Risk Analyst evaluating risk assessments for PRM’s humanitarian funding awards as well as authoring a comprehensive risk mapping project to assess major risk factors. Anthony also worked as a Lebanon Desk Officer in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs supporting U.S. foreign policy objectives while working with regional and international partners in assisting the country, and as a Foreign Affairs Officer in the Bureau of Counterterrorism developing and implementing policies to counter the financing of terrorism in East, Central and Southern Africa, engaging with inter-agency and foreign partners to collaborate on capacity building efforts and on domestic and international sanctions. Anthony earned an M.A. in International Security from Sciences Po Paris and completed a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations with honors from the University of Central Florida. Anthony is a 2021-2022 McCain Institute National Security and Counterterrorism Fellow. He also previously served as the Director of Events and Programming for the Young Professionals in Foreign Policy from 2018-2019. Anthony is a proud Arab American, and enjoys traveling, playing/watching soccer, and spending time with friends.
